Worship on Ash Wednesday will be at our Birmingham First Campus as we begin the Lenten season. (1589 West Maple Road, Birmingham, MI)Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.
The words spoken on Ash Wednesday as ashes are placed on our foreheads powerfully remind us that we are mortal. In this life, we are born, and we will die. We have a finite number of years. And in those years, we are limited in what we know and understand. As we worship on Ash Wednesday, we will explore how remembering our mortality grounds our lives in humility. Ash Wednesday is also Valentines Day. Pastor Shawn has selected I Corinthians 13, traditionally read at weddings, as the text for his Ash Wednesday worship meditation titled “Seeing Dimly.” Plan to worship in the Birmingham sanctuary at 7:40 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 4:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. For those unable to attend a service, drive-through ashes will be offered from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
During the midday hours, we also provide the convenience of drive-thru ashes, allowing you to receive ashes on the go. You can drive into the East driveway off of West Maple Street for drive-thru ashes. There will be signs to direct you.
